Plus One Basketball is a local organisation running training programs for kids from the western suburbs of Melbourne. They pride themselves on producing well-rounded young people, with a focus on values and character as much as on-court or performance outcomes.

Plus One invited us down to document their teams entered into a local tournament. It was clear that their strongest asset was their sense of belonging and community, and unrivalled vibes, so the decision was made to go beyond mere highlight packages and do a profile piece which would focus on who Plus One is rather than simply what they do on the court.

It was a hectic half-day shoot, which was ambitious in attempting to conduct interviews with players and staff in-between games, but we pulled it off and the result is something they/we are extremely proud of.

The moral of the story is this: a highlights package will get you likes and comments, but a story-based video is something you can show to anyone and say, "This is who we are." Potential players, parents, sponsors, etc will resonate with the latter far more.
