ByAzumi – Personal Story

BRIEF

Azumi is a Japanese florist living in Melbourne specialising in Ikebana – a Japansee style of flower arranging. Azumi feels a deep sense of connection with her craft, and wanted to tell her story to show her audience the depth of this relationship with flowers and nature.

EXECUTION

We chose to have Azumi speak to-camera in her interview to take advantage of a teleprompter and help give her confidence around her messaging and delivery. This also helped create a strong connection with the audience with Azumi’s eye contact as she recalls moments that are deeply personal to her.

Filming B-roll and scenes to compliment and punctuate the interview was incredibly fun and rewarding. Azumi making arrangements, walking through fields observing her environment, or delivering flowers to her clients all made for compelling footage which we weaved throughout her story to bring it to life.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Azumi is a talented florist, but our mission with this video was not to showcase her skills; We wanted to tell her story and show her audience why she is so passionate about what she does. Azumi was a pleasure to work with, and we enjoyed learning more about her and flowers through this production.
